Real World Impacts of A2i Implementation Across the Country

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Since we first began implementing A2i into classrooms there’s always been one goal, get kids reading, a simple yet noble aim which surprisingly involves more nuance than it seems. One roadblock along this journey was recognizing where students are at. When we started collaborating with schools, an ever present and very real truth was that many students were starting below grade level and needed help to catch up, fast. In order to accelerate student growth, Learning Ovations worked side-by-side with teachers to guarantee the tireless work of educators would yield results that matched their efforts.

Over the years, we have witnessed a spectacular shift in classroom atmosphere thanks to the amazing teachers and staff who committed to the belief that all students can and should be able to read by the end of third grade. With these efforts we are also so excited to announce that the numbers are in!

During 2021-2022 we collected and analyzed data from 4 states, 7 districts, 29 schools, 174 teachers, and 3,741 K-3 students. The results of this analysis highlight critical success factors that are directly inline with the mission. In real world impact, these numbers show that the synthesis between A2i and teachers is working, and students are getting the accelerated learning they need to reach their full potential as readers.

One of the key factors we highlight in this report is how consistent A2i usage improves student outcomes. From this, we found that teachers who use A2i more often see a 22% increase in student growth rate. This is a really big deal! Over the course of a full school year, this increase results in a difference of nearly two additional months of learning. This means that students who are in A2i classrooms starting from Kindergarten will have received almost a full extra year of instruction by the time they finish 3rd grade, and this is only counting one factor!

Alongside consistent A2i use, there are other very significant findings outlined in the 2021-2022 outcomes report, and we are so excited to share them with you. Keep your eyes out for more information on these topics in the coming weeks. To any teachers reading this, don’t forget to give yourselves the praise you deserve, because together we ARE making a difference for years to come.
